24/05/2025- Kent Live The forgotten Kent seaside town making a 'remarkable revival' with 'Ibiza' bars and 'best beach in UK'
Many of Britain's seaside towns which were once-bustling tourist hotspots have been "forgotten" over the past few decades. The rise of budget foreign holidays, unpredictable weather and a lack of financial investment have contributed to Brits favouring other holiday options, leaving these coastal gems neglected.
But these family-friendly beach retreats never lost their charm, and a "remarkable revival" is now underway. Kent's very own Margate has been singled out by travel experts at National Geographic as one of the few seaside towns making a comeback.
The town has even been likened to Ibiza, with a variety of trendy bars and restaurants for both locals and tourists to enjoy. And the Main Sands beach, extending about 200 meters, is a key attraction.
Margate is less than two hours from Central London.
